Feeling crafty? Create a customized weekly menu using a simple frame and some vinyl. Get an amazing look for a teensy bit of effort!
This is so easy anyone can do it- yes, even you! If you are anything like me; without a written plan for dinner you just won’t do it (take out is so much easier). I need to write it down, buy the groceries and follow a schedule, but I’m really good at losing my menu plan! How do I do this, you wonder? Easy- I bring it with me to the store, tuck it into my favorite recipe book and forget it, leave it in my pockets for the wash… I’m really terrible…. Problem, and solution!
This menu board is so beautiful and simple… here is what you will need: *Frame- (whatever size/color you want, I chose a simple black frame (mine was 11 x 17) *Vinyl Letters- http://tradingphrases.com/weekly-menu-decal.html smallest size *Fabric- whatever you like best, I recommend a light color. *Shears- Fabric shears would be best, but I used kitchen ones. J *Expo Marker- for writing on it!
Step 1- Cut your fabric to size. Lay the back of your frame over your fabric to give you a good size estimate on what you need and cut as close as you can to it.
Step 2- Flip the back over and align your fabric on top. Put the back in your picture frame so that the fabric side is up and close the frame.
Step 3- Cut your vinyl apart if needed (I arranged mine differently) and place it on the frame how you’d like it to be. Peel off the backing on the vinyl and adhere your lettering directly to the glass where you’d like each word placed.
Step 4- Every week write down your menu! Snazzy! I left some extra blank space at the bottom to write other ideas I come up with, or what I may make for lunch or breakfast on special days. A great thing to put in this space is leftover ideas with what you made that week. J
Optional Step 5- I took adhesive Velcro-like strips and put one on each of the sides (4 total) and adhered the whole thing to my fridge. I wanted it to be available to take down if I wanted to change it out, or write on a flat surface instead so I thought this was the best option. I really love how it turned out, and it is in the perfect spot in my kitchen!
Simply write on it, erase and write again… the letters will stay on so you don’t have to keep writing out the day of the week, and they are resistant to your pesky cleaners (hello, Clorox wipes my household lifesaver…). Perfect!
