This might sound strange, but we do technically have three available vinyl "colors" that aren't colors: Black (70), White (10), and Ghost (100). We call them noncolors. They're super popular and this last color closeup is all about them!
Okay, so we know that this blog post will be a little strange, but do technically have three available vinyl "colors" that aren't colors: Black (70), White (10), and Ghost (100). We call them noncolors. They're super popular and this last color closeup is all about them, so take a peek below!
I won't even begin to name the reasons why Black (70) and White (10) are popular. They go with everything, look fabulous, aren't hard to match, and are easy. Black (70) is by far our most popular color for decals, followed by White (10), then Chocolate (80). Black (70) and White (10) are elegant and classic, so they're always a great choice for decals. We always recommend these colors if a customer already has a lot of color in the room, since it can sort of reduce any overbalancing of bright colors. White (10) and Black (70) provide some balance to walls splashed with bright color or blend in with a neutral-colored room. As they say, black and white go with everything, right? With this in mind, let's take a quick look at a dot of our White (10) vinyl against some common objects. White (10) can be seen against a gallon of milk below on the left-hand side. On the right-hand side, you can see White (10) against some paper towels. Under those two pictures, you can see our White (10) against a lightswitch cover. Other than some glaring light in the photo with the paper towels, these are all spot on. As you can see, our White (10) is matte, not shiny, and is a "true" white.
Next, let's take a look at a dot of our Black (70) against some common objects. To note, these pictures are very "true to color". On the left-hand side below, you can see a dot of our Black (70) against the color of a Sharpie and a black crayon. It's much more opaque than these two shades. On the right-hand side below, you can see a dot of our Black (70) against the black-colored wood of my desk. It's less shiny than the wood, for sure, but it's essentially the same color. Our Black (70) is definitely matte. Under both of these pictures, is another picture of our Black (70) against our charcoal grill. (Sorry about the dust...it's getting a lot of use these days!)
We have one more "noncolor" that most customers don't even realize that we carry. This color is called Ghost (100). Basically, it's a "clear-ish" color. We only recommend getting this color when applying it to glass, as it will NOT show up on any other surface. This is why it's not on a lot of our color option lists on our posted decals. However, on glass, this "noncolor" looks amazing. It basically gives the glass a "frosted" look. Don't take my word for it, look at the pictures below!
As you can see, we applied our Ghost (100) vinyl dot to different glass surfaces directly in the natural sunlight where you could really see it. The picture on the above left-hand side is on our glass conference table (which looks gross; I apologize. I promise we keep it clean!) The picture on the above right-hand side is the same vinyl dot applied to the outside of one of our office windows. As you can see, this vinyl is NOT transparent. It gives the glass a "frosted" look and is more translucent. We recommend this "noncolor" on glass shower doors, windows, and mirrors for a really fun look! I really hope this helps explain our noncolors a little better. As always, in the event that you have questions about anything- color, size, installation, etc.- give us a call.
